Global Wind Organisation standard

The wind industry is growing fast. Training courses for this sector must comply with the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) standard. The GWO originated when several major players in the wind industry started a partnership. GWO makes the standard for people who work in the wind industry, both onshore and offshore. The goal is to create a safe working environment for the personnel in the wind industry.

SBM is now recognized and certified for these GWO training courses.

Basic Technical Training

Upon completion of the Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Technical Training (BTT) Delegates will possess an awareness of the hazards encountered when working on hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems and how to control and mitigate these hazards, preparing candidates for working both on and off shore in the wind power industry.

These training modules can be delivered independently of one another or as stand-alone training.

Overview

The Global Wind Organisation Basic Technical Training is divided into the folowing three modules:

  • Hydraulic
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical

Aims and objectives

The aim of each module is to give the delegates the knowledge and skills to carry out basic hydraulic, mechanical and electrical tasks (supervised by an experienced technician) using safe working procedures and the correct PPE. This course will not make the Delegate a trained person who is allowed to perform hydraulic, mechanical or electrical work without supervision.
